These are most well known as Turkish delight. They are the sweets you are offered when you stop in at someone’s place, even just for a quick visit. They are served with a glass of cold water. Loukoumia are also beautiful cut up into very small squares and served next to a coffee. The island of Syros is well known for their loukoumi. They are often flavored with rose, masticha or pistachio. A sugar thermometer is important here to tell you when the sugar syrup is at the right stage.
